Premier League giant Manchester United yesterday lost to UEFA Champions League favourites and Serie A champions Juventus at Old Trafford and cupprters of the club were annoyed by a rather poor display from Serbia international midfielder midfielder Nemanja Matic.
The 30-year-old former Chelsea star had a horrible Champions League night in midfield and he was subjected to heavy and brunt criticism from the Old Trafford faithful’s.
Juventus forward Paulo Dybala gave the visiting team from Turin the lead after just 19 minutes and the Red Devils rarely threatened to equalise, with Belgium international striker Romelu Lukaku absolutely ineffective and France international attacking midfielder Paul Pogba not shining against his previous club.
Truth be told, there’s no shame in losing a match to a more superior team like the Old lady but supporters of the most successful Premier League side weren’t delighted with the manner of the loss and with Nemanja Matic in specific, with one club supporter saying the midfielder was “stealing his weekly wage” – reports indicate the midfielder takes home £120k-weekly – and another fan saying it was time to “get rid” of the former Chelsea star.

Matic. Woeful. Get Fred on, we need that midfield to be pressing more and get hold of the bleeding ball!

Matic is absolutely stealing his wage tonight! Lazy, strolling round, given the ball away every time. What does he add & why is he an automatic pick?!

After the one sided encounter at Old Trafford, the Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho admitted Manchester City, Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid are out of United’s reach and warned the club hierarchy they won’t be able to compete with those top European clubs unless they do everything possible to sign world class players.
The Portuguese tactician has spent about £400 million since taking over the managerial reign at Old Trafford back in May 2016 but, after watching Serie A champions Juventus ease to an easy Champions League win on Tuesday, the head coach has urged the management of the Old Trafford outfit they will need to spend more money if they aim to close the gap to Europe top clubs.
