Fans may continue to lament the use of Wembley Stadium for the FA Cup’s semi-finals, but Manchester United’s players offered an elated reaction to the prospect of a trip to England’s most famous ground. Having beaten West Ham United 1-2 in the final FA Cup match to take place at Upton Park, United’s players took to social media to express their delight at their impending trip to face Everton on Saturday 23rd April.
This will mark United’s first visit to Wembley since beating Wigan 2-0 in 2013’s Community Shield, in what was David Moyes’ first competitive game in charge. Should United win their semi-final with Everton, then they will face either Crystal Palace or Watford, who face off on Sunday 24th April in the showpiece final on Saturday 21st May. United have not won the FA Cup in twelve years, having last lifted the trophy in 2004 with a convincing 3-0 victory over Millwall and reached the final in 2005 and 2007, losing to Arsenal and Chelsea respectively.
