It is almost a week since Luke Shaw suffered an awful double right leg fracture when Manchester United faced PSV Eindhoven away in the UEFA Champions League. The 20-year-old was immediately rushed to St Annes hospital over in Eindhoven last Tuesday evening from the stadium, where he had his first operation to straighten and pin the bones back together.
Shaw then stayed in the Eindhoven hospital and was thought to be having his second operation over there to close wounds, but this was not an option coming to the end of last week, and Manchester United had then planned to fly Luke Shaw and his Mum, Dad, and Brother back to Manchester where they could send him to a local hospital this end, a plan that was put into action on Saturday morning when the flight took place. Manchester United’s security then transferred Shaw to a nearby hospital, sneaking him through the back doors.
On Saturday afternoon, Shaw underwent his second operation, a operation that was deemed successful and both the hospital and Shaw are hopeful that he can be discharged on Tuesday morning. The picture below surfaced via social media on Sunday, of Luke Shaw’s leg after the second op.
It is going to take a lot of time for Luke Shaw to get back for Manchester United, a recovery that we will be keeping a close eye on.
Many of the Manchester United players dedicated Sunday’s 3-2 win over Southampton to Luke Shaw, a nice touch.
