Manchester United were victorious on Sunday afternoon as they saw off Southampton 3-2 thanks to a goal from Juan Mata and a fantastic brace from £36million Frenchman Anthony Martial. The second half was the time that Manchester United really came into their own, but many will look to United’s shot stopper as the hero from the match. David De Gea produced three fantastic saves in the second half, with one save in which will undoubtedly be up there with one of the saves of the season, when the score was at 2-1, a save that literally changed that game as five-minutes later, Manchester United scored their third of the match after 44 squad passes were put together before the ball hit the back of the net.
In the last few minutes of the game, things got a little bit nervy for Manchester United as Pelle scored his second and Southampton were all out to try and gain a point from the fixture. But, Louis van Gaal’s army did enough to secure the three points and see themselves up to second in the Premier League table.
Anthony Martial won the man of the match, beating off David De Gea by just a few percent from the fans votes over social media.
But, David De Gea was more than happy after the match, as he posed with fans favourite Bastian Schweinsteiger before they boarded the coach to return to Manchester. Check out De Gea and Bastian all smiles below:
