Luke Shaw Outstanding: Manchester United vs CSKA Moscow Players Ratings

Manchester United had to come from behind to secure the top spot in Group A of the UEFA Champions League.

The latest United analysis is that they have made it five wins from six in this season’s Champions’ League group stage and also stretches United’s unbeaten run at Old Trafford to 40 matches.

CSKA Moscow took the lead before half-time in a controversial fashion, with the Red Devils claiming offside as the ball hit Alan Dzagoev on the back with Daley Blind off the pitch.

The official however allowed the goal insisting Blind was still active and the linesman pointed to him to make that point, otherwise players would just be stepping off the pitch to play people offside.

Three minutes into the second, Romeru Lukaku found the back of the next with a superb pass from France international Midfielder Paul Pogba.

Just 66 seconds late,r they took the lead with a superb pass from Juan Mata to Marcos Rashford – who neatly fire a low shot into the far corner to make it 2-1 for United.

Romeru Lukaku: 8

The Belgium international had an outstanding performance last night. He scored the equalizing goal just three minutes into the second half and was also involved in the build-up to Rashford goal.

His goal against the Russian club is only his second in 13 matches. Although the goals may not be coming in of late but his performance was great as he was constantly a threat to CSKA Moscow defenders.

Marcos Rashord: 9

The talented youngster had an electrifying performance. He was constantly a real threat to the opposition defence before he was substituted for the final 20 minutes. Rashford beat people at ease, linked up with Lukaku superbly and scored the winning goal.

His display will definitely give Mourinho a headache in selection ahead of weekend derby, whether to play him ahead of Anthony Martial in the left flank.

Juan Mata: 7

The former Chelsea man had a decent performance and gave an assist for Rashford second goal. He will however hope his performance is enough to guaranty him a starter in weekend game against the Citizens.

Ander Herrera: 7

The Spanish midfielder had an average performance. He was able to cover up for the central defenders but offered very little going forward. The 28-year old star was replaced midway through the second half and could partner Nemanja Matic in the midfield this weekend in the absence of Paul Pogba.

Paul Pogba: 8

The powerful box-to-box midfielder was the main stay of United midfield. He set up the first goal for Lukaku and created some chances. His physical presences will definitely be missing in Sunday derby due to suspension.

Luke Shaw: 8

The English man was handed his first start of the season and the left-back repaid Mourinho’s faith with an excellence display. The 22-year old hasn’t always seen eye-to-eye with Mourinho, but the Portuguese tactician heap praise on him after an outstanding display during his post-match briefing. We hope he gets more chances on the pitch henceforth

Antonio Valencia: 7

The team skipper had a decent performance as expected. He was solid offensively and also defended well. He was however substituted in the last 20 minutes.

Daley Blind: 7

The Dutch star linked up well with Shaw at the left back and defended well but couldn’t do much to stop the Russian team from their opening goal as he was off the pitch.

Chris Smalling: 7

He kept CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chaloy under control and didn’t give room for the striker to a shot at goal. He organized his three man defence well.

Victor Lindelof: 7

The summer signing had an outstanding performance. The former Benfica defender seems to be getting better after a poor start to the season campaign. His tackles were timely and made good passes from the back.

Sergio Romero: 6

The Argentine shot stopper really had nothing to worry about as his defenders were constantly in control of opposition attack. He however made one decent save from Alan Dzagoey shot. He couldn’t really do much to stop CSKA Moscow goal.
