Man Utd manager Jose Mourinho has confirmed to newsmen that striker Romelu Lukaku will miss the game against Serie A champions Juventus through injury, and could also miss the weekend clash against eternal rivals Manchester City.
The 25-year-old number 9 has heavily struggled for form so far this campaign, netting only four times in 14 matches with his last of those coming on September 15.
After he was initially left on the substitute bench for the victory over Merseyside club Everton, an injury ruled the Belgian out against AFC Bournemouth last weekend and it seems as though that problem is still disturbing him, according to a tweet from Miguel Delaney of The Independent below…
Considering the Red Devils have coped well enough without the Belgium international striker with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez, and particularly French forward Anthony Martial stepping up and performing extremely well, it may not really be a hefty blow for Jose Mourinho and Manchester United.
Nevertheless, Romelu Lukaku’s physical attribute and ability to deliver a different dynamic in attack might have been important for United at the weekend and in the Champions League against Juventus in Turin, and so the Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho will certainly be disappointed to see the attacker miss out.
There is still huge hope for Sunday clash as the tactician suggested that he is not in the know if the big striker would recover just in time, and so only time will tell if the Red Devils get a good update on his recuperation in the coming days.
