On- loan Aston Villa goalkeeper Sam Johnstone has agreed a new terms with Manchester United ahead of January transfer window.
According to Daily Mail, the Red Devils exercised an option to extend Jonhstones contract through the summer of 2019.
Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing the 24-year old goalie on a permanent deal in January. They will however have to pay a higher fee after United moved to protect their asset and increase his market value.
Johnstone joined the Championship side last summer for a second season loan spell. He has been able to make 42 appearances for Steve Bruce’ team across his two loan spell, keeping 16 clean sheets in the process.
There is a growing interest in the promising goalie signature from Premier League teams including West Brom Albion and other Championship clubs.
While he is contracted to United till 2019, the long-term outlook does not change as he is currently the fourth choice goalie in Jose Mourinho’s team.
He is currently behind David de Gea, Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira in the Red Devils’ ranking.
This current situation will undoubtedly not stop clubs from making enquiry for the England international services.
Report also has it that Villa boss Steve Bruce is making plans to lure United forward James Wilson to Villa park in January.
